Lieserpfad Trail – hiking from river source to river mouth

You make your own way to Daun. Take time to go for a gentle stroll and explore our little town set in the heart of the Volcanic Eifel and, for example, visit our Daun Volcano Museum.

15 km – up 138 m, down 276 m

The first stage offers an easy entry to the Lieserpfad Trail from the river’s source in Boxberg to the health resort of Daun. The loveliness of the trail is already evident at this first stage.

You can travel to the source of the Lieser either by bus or on your own by taxi.

18 km – up 247 m, down 319 m

The second, more physically demanding part of the Lieser Trail runs past the Daun maars as far as the Manderscheid castles. Because of its Alpine character hiking experience is required.

23 km – up 345 m, down 554 m

Volcanic Eifel Alpine-style! The third and longest stage runs along narrow and rocky paths through dense woodland and light glades. The ever new and spectacular viewing points are spectacular.

18 km – up 84 m, down 139 m

On the last stage you can rest your weary legs. The descent towards the Mosel is a gentle one.

Breakfast marks the end of your Lieser trail trip. You can hike back to Bernkastel-Kues or be collected from the hotel and taken to the bus in Bernkastel-Kues. From there you travel back to Daun by bus line 300 (www.regioradler.de).
