Meerfeld viewing point

This viewing point close by the Meerfelder Maar is unique: from the rim of the crater you have a picturesque view of the Mosenberg, Meerfeld and, of course, the maar itself. From here the choice of walks is simply endless – or you can just stay by the shore and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Manderscheid Castles

Because not only is the view of Manderscheid and the Eifel unique but also during the castle festival the ruin comes to life. Jugglers set the mood, knights battle for fame and honour, and damsels dance up and down the steps.

Dronke Tower

The climb is not an easy one, but it is worth it. The Dronketurm is one of the high points at the edge of the Eifelsteig. This tower on the Mäuseberg offers a breathtaking panoramic view and invites one to linger and dream. Lie down on one of the comfortable loungers and enjoy the magic of the moment. Here you can draw renewed energy for the rest of the walk and your everyday routine.

Hohenzollern Tower

Stop, stay and enjoy: the view from the forest sofa at the Hohenzollernturm is truly fascinating. You let your gaze wander over the landscape around Bad Bertrich, listen to the twittering of the birds and the gentle rustling of the leaves. The viewing point can be reached by the Kurschattensteig – and this seven-kilometre-long route abounds with wonderful panoramic views like this. You walk along narrow, almost Alpine paths and so arrive at the loveliest viewing points around the health resort. As well as the Hohenzollernturm you also pass by the Bismarckturm, Kuckuckslay, the panoramic view and the Mooshütte.

Achterhöhe Eifel View

When the heathland is blooming in August and September, a trip to this viewing point is a feast for the eyes. Make yourself comfortable on the forest sofa, enjoy the late-summer warmth and let your gaze wander over the heathland landscape. The rich colours have a calming effect. The Eifelblick Achterhöhe lies on the Achterhöhe Adventure Trail.

The Volcano Walk

This walk for trained adventure seekers takes you through the Mürmes nature reserve and across a many-thousand-years-old lava field. It leads over fully-constructed roadways and real adventure trails for experienced walkers. Halt at the Schalkenmehrener maar, and abandon yourself to your dreams as you gaze at the deep-blue water. A little further up enjoy the view from the volcano information platform on the Steineberger Ley. The 26-kilometre-long walk will linger long in your memory, because it is counted amongst the walks that afford the loveliest views across the Eifel. On the way you are also given information about the special geology relating to the volcanoes.

The Achterhöhe adventure trail

The Achterhöhe adventure trail not only offers wonderful distant views of the Eifel’s unique landscape but is also exciting for children. Coloured charts show youngsters how to identify an ants´ nest, learn where badgers live or discover heathland.

The platform on the Achterhöhe is the high point of the walk. Standing high above the Siebenbachtal the landscape can be properly enjoyed. Woodland benches placed right beside the platform offer a comfortable rest.
