It starts in Daun. The starting point can be reached without difficulty by car or the RegioRadler biker bus. Anyone wanting to go on a cycling trip can hire a bicycle or an e-bike in Daun. An initial, if small, challenge: the run up to the viaduct that lies 28 metres above the health resort. However, even for untrained riders this stage is easy to manage. The effort is, it goes without saying, rewarded at once with a fabulous view all round. After passing through the Grosses Schlitzohr (the Big Bat Tunnel), one of altogether four tunnels along the stretch, the way runs under the blue Eifel sky on past the Daun maars and other prominent features of the Volcanic Eifel.

Because you not only pedal past glittering water, fabulous woodland and idyllic villages but can also experience interesting things as you do so. Cyclist adventure trails point the way, for example, to the Strohn lava bomb and Manderscheid Castles. A short detour is worthwhile. Because here the turbulent history of the Volcanic Eifel becomes real.
From Plein on the trail takes you quickly downhill into the valley of the picturesque Lieser; now left, now right, the cycleway here follows the stream as far as the Mosel. Only another three kilometres, then you have reached your destination, the idyllic Bernkastel-Kues, where a stroll through the town and delicious Mosel wines await you.
After a break and a stop for refreshment at your destination the RegioRadler, a bus with a bicycle trailer, takes you back to Daun. Advance reservation is recommended, depending on the time of year.
