... read moreThe Kosmosradweg starts in the Daun Kurpark and runs from Pützborn, Oberstadtfeld, Niederstadtfeld and Schutz as far as Meerfeld through the unmistakable natural world of the Volcanic Eifel. The route is made up of two thematic parts, that of the planets and that of time travel. The planet part starts in the Daun Kurpark and ends at the Bleckhausener Mühle. Along this stretch of the Kosmosradweg the planets are presented scaled down in size and distance from the sun. Every metre that you travel here represents 500,000 kilometres in the solar system. From the Bleckhausener Mühle you embark on a symbolic journey through time: pedal from the Big Bang through the origin of the universe up to the present day. Each step you take takes you two million years into the past or into the future, depending on the direction you go in.
This theme trail between the present and the Big Bang is a special natural experience, particularly for children, because it is not the exercise that is the main thing here, it is the playful experience of the universe. Likewise, leisure cyclists who seek inner calm and relaxation from cycling also find what they are looking for along the Kosmosradweg . Features of special interest along the way include, besides the Mediaeval castles in Manderscheid and the Schalkenmehrener Maar, the Wild- & Erlebnispark Daun [Daun Animal and Adventure Park], which makes a great addition to the cycling trip. The Kleine Kyll is your constant companion throughout this cycle run.
